YouÂ've seen the stage acts where a hypnotist selects someone in the audience and when he claps his hands, struts participant wants around the stage clucking like a chicken. YouÂ've also seen movies where the hypnotist waves the pocket watch in front of the subject as he utters, a "youÂ're get sleep … very sleepy.Â" Hypnosis is a bit more than what Hollywood or Las Vegas Make It Out of Being. Below is a brief overview.

Hypnosis is an alteration of the natural state of consciousness in which the critical mind is bypassed (mind in the conscious mode) and acceptable selective thinking established. Wow! That's a lot of technical jargon! In simple terms, this means that reasoning, evaluation, judging part of your mind (conscious) is bypassed.

Hypnosis deals with the unconscious. Have you ever driven to work or home or anywhere, arrive at your destination but then had little or no memory of the drive? The parts of your reasoning, evaluate and judging from your mind is still intact and functioning (read: you safely arrived at your location), but your conscious mind has been bypassed. Hypnosis is just like that. Feeling the same or similar ITA as when you dream day. People under hypnosis know exactly what they do.

What about control? Many people fear being hypnotized because they falsely believe that they should abandon control of their minds. Not true. Think when you are too absorbed in a movie and you are in tears. If youÂ've ever watched Saving Private Ryan, Titanic or the Passion of Christ, you know this scenario all too well. During these movies you were so involved that you actually felt emotion. You were literally in a state of hypnotic trance. More important, however, you always had the power to leave this state, if desired.

Your mind may be guided by a movie, self-hypnosis tape, or hypnotist, but you still have the power to resist. If you fully believe and acknowledge that you have power to resist any control of emotions, then hypnosis is nothing to fear. Unfortunately, some people seem to give up partial control of their minds because they misunderstand who has the power. Undoubtedly, a person may be fooled into thinking it has given control in some forms of stage hypnosis or other experiments. This is probably what often happens in stage shows. But simply because someone was wrong does not mean he is good or it will happen to you this way.

Think about it. Any hypnosis is self-hypnosis. You're the one who allows your mind to be placed into deep states. You're the one who has the power to resist reactions to any suggestion. ITA really a misnomer when people say they were hypnotized. What they really mean is they have allowed their minds to be hypnotized or they allowed a hypnotist to give suggestions that they chose to follow.

Just Remember that no one controls your mind unless you give permission first!
