The concept of "framing" in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is designed to establish constraints around situations, ideas, discussions or behavior. In a sense, NLP frames are similar to identify the context of a subject in a conversation – in both cases, the desired result is to establish guidelines unsaid about the "what, when, who, how and why" components of our communication.
In the case of Heads of business to use frames is to help the person or group directly to the attention or discussion and influence the way events should be interpreted. A common example of framing is what people see as a "frame" of time – to set a deadline for meeting will often shape the kind of communication happens. For example, a meeting of 30 minutes will be more focused on goals with less time for discussion and the input group of a 3 o'clock meeting on the same agenda.
- Relevance Framework Framework Relevance (also known as a challenge Relevance) is specifically designed to help keep communication flowing in the right direction. You can keep person / group focused on the topic by asking good questions about how their comments, a statement or question is relevant to the current objective the meeting or interaction. Some examples are:
- "How does this relate to the issues before us now? "or
- "What connection does this have the question at hand?
- Frame Agreement "People enjoy being recognized for their input and one of the best ways to reduce resistance when dealing with people is to start with the Framework Agreement. This is a way for you to redirect the energies of an argumentative person rather than trying to overcome. In the process, the subject will feel confirmed in their own opinion, belief or value, while at the same time offering them a new point of reference. linguistic structures using the Framework agreement include statements such as;
- "I appreciate where you come from, and what we must now examine … "or
- "I respect what you say here, and our goal now is to watch …" or
- "I agree that your point of this view is valid, so that we might want to focus on it is … Or
- "You're right, in your experience is exactly what it is and solve it, we must focus on … "
Avoid the other is resistance from everyone involved in what is said while leaving open to new ideas. Bearing in mind this intention you want to avoid using words that they deny expressed as: "but" and "however" – these words will destroy the value of everything said just before disposal so that these words communication as much as possible goes a long way towards overcoming common resistance in others.
- Proof Frame This style scoping is to identify a person "means evidence" – visible proof that the person uses to define whether or not a goal has been reached (using sensory specific language that describes what you see, hear and feel when the outcome is achieved). By asking questions evidence you can collect the necessary information while helping to connect their own unconscious expectations of the outcome. Issues such as;
- "Have you what you specifically want to include in this debate? "or
- "How exactly will all look when we do? "
Request information like that will also ensure that the perception of each of what to expect are online, which is much more useful than all the world simply trying to do things their way.
From a viewpoint of NLP, framing is a very important process communication. Clear frameworks, such as pre-setting expectations of a meeting before you start, help people to establish mental guidelines in how they interpret the messages and behaviors and how they interact and contribute.
When a person has a clear framework of what is happening, what will happen or what is expected of them, then it is easier for them to become unnecessarily confused, fearful resistant and – ultimately increasing the chances of miscommunication and misunderstanding.
