During the past 30 years, interest in neurolinguistic programming (NLP) has grown exponentially, while the interest in hypnosis as a tool appears to have declined, yet both have the ability to create a major change, and yet is viewed with suspicion, and the other praised as El Salvador to the masses – well, almost.
Anyone who has any form of NLP training will tell you that hypnosis, Ericksonian especially the variety is a subset of all, and you can do the job without major change hypnosis. This seems to appease many, and may well be further from the truth than people think.
If we start with an understanding of what hypnosis is, see that the relationship between him and his new rival closer than they appear at first sight. Hypnosis, simply, is the bypass of the critical mind and the establishment of selective thinking ", the process involved is undetermined, although historically this has been through the use of a script 'hypnotic' that bypasses the critical factor.
The process and outcome have been tied together, and " Hypnosis is now a mesmerizing speaker, and a person who listens and "going to trance '. The usual game-for this is in the office of a therapist, where the client is sits in a comfortable chair and becomes very relaxed, with eyes closed.
In reality, and return to the definition, when you have the comfy chair, relax, inducing hypnosis and the hypnotist comes? These are all creative processes that have little to do with the final process, apart from the expectations of individuals as what hypnosis entails.
Let's Have a look now to the NLP. There is no quick or easy definition, no process in place, without preconceptions, and yet the result, which bypass the critical factor, the establishment of selective thinking "is still performed. Anyone who has been a Professional NLP or a field, no doubt, have been through one of the patterns of change in rule "requiring that the order to suspend reality and establish a new pattern thinking … now not that sound familiar.
There is no doubt that changes can be achieved with the NLP and the speed at which it occurs may be impressive, and many of my customers do not fall into the chair "hypnotized" and yet will work with patterns of change, they will not regression, but will work with a line time.
The method, the "performance" may be different, but the end result for customers is very similar.
Whatever you look at it, NLP is a new process for hypnosis (Perhaps hypnosis for the 21st century), without all the baggage of age, mysticism and pantomime surrounding his brother.
The positive attributes, not to be overlooked, nor should link to the story in oblivion, and understanding of the link may make the two most effective ways in supporting customers.
